    Shoekill Race – SUCCESS!

    70 registered, 50 chose to race during a thunder-storm watch.  The sky opened up the evening before the race and poured rain, soaking Philadelphia through the night.  The morning was calm an grey but suitable for a race.  Longboarders assembled at the famous Philly Art Museum, home of the “Rocky steps”.  We huddled for a brief safety meeting then lined up at the starting line.

    The course is 8.1 miles looping the Schuykill River that winds through downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The race kicked off at 11:34am while the roads were still damp.  The course was slick and fun.  The grade was simple, and the shallow winding curves of the river allowed the pack to open up maintain a good push pace.  Riders can choose to skate on the recommended path or brave the open road.

      Was a great race, had a good time drinkin some beers with you NY guys after the race too. I’ll get myself up there to skate soon enough. Thanks for participating
