Help Us Choose…

written by Ryan February 6, 2009

As many of you know we just finished up a very successful design contest in partnership with Core77, a local NYC design blog. The contest challenged participants to create griptape designs that could by laser cut and applied to the board. From the winners, three were chosen and will have their designs cut by Ponoko, a New Zealand based laser cutting firm. The contest was awesome and the designs were rad, but we are still not finished.

Now are putting together a program to use the top rated designs as actual, screen printed graphics on a limited run of our boards. The idea is to determine which graphics people feel are the coolest and then work with the respective artists to recreate them on the bottom of the board, with color. To get the ball rolling, we are asking our friends to help us chose the winners. Through February we asking everyone to browse through the entries at the link below and comment on this post explaining which is their favorite.

Step 1 – Visit the contest hosted by Core77 by clicking HERE.

Step 2 – Browse through the plethora of awesome graphics and make note of which are your favorites.

Step 3 – Scroll to the bottom of this page and leave a COMMENT explaining which are your favorite designs (and if your feel chatty, tell us why).

Sometime next month we will collect all the feedback and move forward with creating the limited edition series based on what YOU liked! Thanks to everyone for getting involved and helping us with this contest.

the one by jknodell “for the softer side in all of us” i like it intricate but simple overall and lots of black, while still strongly reppin’ the sweet bustin logo.

My top three are “American flag” “concept 1” and “in the weeds”

My favorites were Sushi Style and Idea 2. I think a simpler koi graphic would complement the bamboo of the Sojourn. The Idea 2 incorporates a little more of that classic Bustin look and tones down that “good dream-turned-nightmarish” feel.
