Someone asked us on YouTube today how we got our name and I realized that the history section is no longer on our site since we redesigned the nav. We’ll get it back up, but in the meantime I wanted to tell the story quickly. Back in 2001 my cousins and I got into longboarding and started hitting hills in the mountains near our hometown of Hagerstown, MD. We started making our own boards and I became enthralled about the idea of starting a skateboard company with the boards we were making. We tossed around a few names, but nothing really stuck until Mike crashed bad on a hill near Smithsburg, MD. He split is lip open and I had to take him to the hospital to get stitches. He was laying there on the table with the doc stitching closed his gaping wound and I casually laughed and said “dude your lip is bustin through the freakin stitches”. With a painfully enlighted look he looked up through the doctors hands and said “lets call it Bustin Boards”. Above are a couple pictures from those days, including the ever famous stitched lip.
