First of all thanks to the Concrete Kings for coming out for a beautiful sunday cruise through the city. It was warm out and we did our usual ride from Colombus Circle to the Bustin shop in Williamsburg. It’s so good to be back out skating in some sunshine. Anyway, I wanted to share this little spill with you all for two reasons:
- To tell you all again to wear your helmets. And,
- I finally was given an opportunity to test out the shoulder pads on our new Push Culture Hoodie and I am proud to announce they work Awesome!
I know I wasn’t doing anything cool, but as you can see I fell pretty good. It certainly wouldn’t have ended my skating career, but today would have been very uncomfortable if it weren’t for my helmet, gloves, and the shoulder pads on the Push Culture Hoodie I was wearing. Those of you who know me have had to listen to me tell you to wear your helmets, you also know that I wear my helmet 99% of the time I ride. Plus, you get to be in the Helmet Wearing Club which is awesome!
“I was given the opportunity” is a funny way to put it; I wiped out. But it’s been a joke since we first had shoulder and elbow “pads” on the hoodie about who was going to test them? I got the first opportunity, and I can say I now know from experience they do, or at least did in this case thank God, make the hoodie slide over the pavement instead of tear through material down to my skin. All I have to show for it is a sore shoulder and a slight bruise, no big deal. Good to know for now, but that’s just the first test. Further R&D is still required…
