Shoekill Race – SUCCESS!

written by Mike August 9, 2009

70 registered, 50 chose to race during a thunder-storm watch.  The sky opened up the evening before the race and poured rain, soaking Philadelphia through the night.  The morning was calm an grey but suitable for a race.  Longboarders assembled at the famous Philly Art Museum, home of the “Rocky steps”.  We huddled for a brief safety meeting then lined up at the starting line.

The course is 8.1 miles looping the Schuykill River that winds through downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The race kicked off at 11:34am while the roads were still damp.  The course was slick and fun.  The grade was simple, and the shallow winding curves of the river allowed the pack to open up maintain a good push pace.  Riders can choose to skate on the recommended path or brave the open road.

Final results of the 1st Annual Shoekill on the Schuykill will be posted on the Bustin Blog soon, until then enjoy some preliminary pictures here:

Hey are using WordPress for your site platform?
I’m new to the blog world but I’m trying to
get started and create my own. Do you need any coding knowledge to
make your own blog? Any help would be really appreciated!
