Skateboard legend Kessler dies following allergic reaction

written by Mike August 14, 2009

Andy Kessler is an epic New York scenester/skater responsible for the placing of skate parks all over New York City.  He was a Long Island Surfer and city skater who influenced the direction skateboarding has taken.  His passion for skating and surfing helped many misunderstood individuals find something they love.  His dedication enabled us to have many of the skateparks we still enjoy.

Please say a prayer for Kessler’s family as they mourn the loss of a loved one and remember we all share stoke…spread that stoke until your final days.

All of us here in New York can relate to what he’s talking about in that video.

A pretty good NYTimes article for those of you who don’t know who Kessler was – http://happydays.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/13/the-end-of-falling/

Rest in peace my friend. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here is another link to really get a grasp on a man that SHAPED the culture that now pumps through our veins. Take a second to appreciate the scene as you roll the city over the next couple of days. Take time to reflect on its past and give one up for a true pioneer.
