Our Shred Family at Wheelbase Magazine hooked us up with this dope video of their Broadway Bomb experience. For all you WEST COASTERS who want to live the BOMB vicariously, check this out. Marcus and Dave showed up and skated hard. Great vibes all over the place. Dudes got it in.
The Bustin Crew road tripped to Bainbridge, Ohio this weekend to race at Soldiers of Downhill – a downhill speedboard event with speeds up to 50mph. Bustin Will Royce dominated most of the competition earning a spot in the final heat – but took a gnarly crash to finish 4th. Will was rocking his new leathers which is why I believe it was the “Curse of the leathers” which took him out. Longboard superstition can be very real sometimes.
The Bustin Crew just arrived back to Brooklyn early this morning so I have not gotten a chance to get the full standings of Soldiers of Downhill. Be sure to notice Will’s new Pro Model wheel which he raced this weekend. The wheel is a bigger fatter version of the 70mm Bustin Premier Formula wheels which dropped earlier this year. More reviews soon! Til then, skate or die.
The Bustin Team had an extraordinary weekend at the Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon in Plano, Texas on the racetrack and on the podium. Bustin’s 2-time winner Jeff Vyain pulled off 2nd place and Bustin/Bees Knees Skathletics Jay Yerke earned 4th place on the podium. The competition was fierce with Paul Kent capturing his 1st Adrenalina title, Robski McGuirk holding strong and Enrique Cublo in the lead pack.
The Bustin Ladies did an incredible job this weekend, also earning 2 podium spots. Bustin Sara “Shocker” Paulshock pulled off another win and will be putting big money in the bank! Bustin Cami “Beast” Best was got on Sara’s heels coming in 2nd place to round out the top two posium spots. These ladies are great to watch because they skate with ferocity, everytime. We are very stoked for Sara and cami who keep making it happen! 3rd place Anna O’Neil from Canada deserves a big shout out for hanging with these chicks. Anna is a powerhouse skater – stoked to have her at these events!
This weekend I visited the UNC Longboard Club for their 2011 kickoff event - a scavenger hunt race on campus during parent weekend which was great for sport exposure. So many parents were curious and excited about the big group of longboarders. I was stoked to discover some incredible skaters who care more about growing the scene than anything. These guys have their club figured out – with school approval and everything! I am refreshed to know that college administration’s are embracing longboard clubs and enabling students who go the extra mile to grow extra-curricular activities. keep on keepin’ on fellas!

My boy Joe Goodman with Push Culture News created this cool mini-documentary on history of the Broadway Bomb. Joe did his homework and found some sweet retro clips from the past 10 years. Watching some of the clips makes me remember how difficult it was to get a camera to bring to events and how grateful I am that someone was careless enough to let their camera go traffic surfing for the afternoon. Broadway Bomb 2011 longboard race in Manhattan is 2 weekends away – are you ready?
