Central Park, Saturday, June 15th
A few hundred people gathered at the Naumburg Bandshell last Saturday morning for the Annual Central Park Race. Because the Broadway Bomb has become so notorious, the CP Race, it’s little sister was organized and run much more low key this year.
Bustin team rider, Kiefer Dixon took first place for the third year in a row. Kiefer blazed around the hilly 6.1 mile loop in 19 minutes and 59 seconds. Do the math on that. Cami Best took home the women’s title once again making her sponsors proud.
Contrary to the 2012 Broadway Bomb, there was not one cop or park ranger spotted the entire race. The starting line on east 72nd street was the only brief obstruction of traffic for the day. Skaters migrated there seamlessly from the Bandshell.
Bustin team pro racer, Jonas Richter came up from Brazil and got a strong start and a top 15 finish. Jonas is racing the I Love Downhill next weekend then heading out to Maryhill and the west coast for the summer.

Cami Best, living up to her name.
After the race, the podium was held at the bandshell, top finishers took the stage.
Bustin Brooklyn’s Nick Coolhands, his brother Dillon and Prince Lang were there with a whole crew.
Adam Crigler held the Central Park Slide Carnival after the race. Jonas takes a buttery smooth run.
The slide jam came to a halt when everyone stopped to watch Prince take the YoFace 32″ down a 12 stair handrail. Prince here, solidly nailing it on his third try.
