It’s no doubt that we are gearing up for a seriously epic skate season. Picking and choosing which events you’ll be attending this longboard season has never been so hard. Hell, picking and choosing which events to sponsor has never been so hard!!! But take a hint from us here at Bustin: The Push Culture Family Picnic is 5 weeks out, and it’s going to be RAD.
No racing. All fun. One big ass hill in Vermont. Shuttles. Hay. Meals. Friends. And of course the ever constant Gravity will be there. This will be an excellent party ahem skate event for those looking to hone their skills, meet new and old friends, and shred the gnar in a safe, shred-positive environment. Check out the event pages linked below for more info and sign-up.
2011 is “season of the sponsorship requests”. YouTube, Vimeo and other video sharing websites have strengthened the sport of longboarding by bridging the gaps between communities and style. More riders are getting steezy and are actively on the hunt for sponsorship.
Remember: Longboarding is about style and flow – not always about being the fastest or coolest skater on the hill. Sponsorship only waters down the value of the sport and is the root of narcissism. Legit sponsorship is a symbiotic relationship between skater and sponsor. Bustin is community of skaters from all skill levels who skate for the love of the sport. The family atmosphere that surrounds Bustin blossoms from a hierarchy-less relationships binded by longboarding.
Check out this video of the legendary Patrick Switzer, a rider who understands the dynamics of this sport and who genuinely wants to grow the sport one skater at a time. Patrick works with longboard companies to support community events to spread the love. Chchcheck it.
