So I’ve spent roughly the last three weeks negotiating, cleaning, designing and then building out the new Bustin longboard store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and I have to say I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I’m a project lover and designing and building a skate shop has to be the project of a life time. With that said, I decided to drop a quick note and let everyone know how its going.
For most of the shelving we are building our own custom pieces inspired by the way we stain the boards. Also, Theseus did an amazing job laying down the new floors which are much more skater conducive than the original ceramic tile. Our latest idea is a skater path that leads from the from the front door, through the shop and around to the staircase and elevator leading down the skaters lounge. Caution browsing customers; Skater Crossing ahead.
Fresh new work benches and organizational racks that are loooong overdue.
The spot originally had tortuous flouresent lights that made you feel like a vampire in sunlight. I replaced them with these cool hanging industrial lights and mellowed out the vibe in the shop. We also just put up a new flat screen that will be used to feature all of our videos and the videos submitted to us by customers and riders. If you make tight longboard videos, send them to us and we’ll put them on the loop in our shop. Who knows, maybe you’ll inspire a customer.
