Where will you stay in NYC Adrenalina Weekend?

written by Mike July 22, 2011

New York City is a big place but is divided up into 5 boroughs.  Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.  When you visit NYC for the Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon July 30th, you will want to know a few things before you set foot into the Concrete Jungle.  You will be visiting NYC on a SKATECATION – use it to your advantage.

Adrenalina Marathon is happening on Governor’s Island, south of Manhattan, which is the great metropolis of New York City most are familiar with.  You may want to begin your hostel/hotel/crash pad search south of Houston Street if you want to be where the action is at.  North of Houston Street is alright, but every numbered block north you go – the farther you get from the action.  Brooklyn is another good option, but be sure you are near a JMZ, L, or BDF trains.  The Bustin shop is 340 Grand St. Brooklyn, NY 11211.  Best best is to search for places near the shop.  Good location and affordable hostels.

The best transportation around the city is on a longboard.  Pack light because you don’t need much – and you’ll be carrying your stuff with you most of the time.  New York City is death HOT this time of year.  Wear your brightest skimpiest clothes or you’ll sweat to death and look like a tourist.  NYC is mostly FLAT!  The Adrenalina Race average speed is 17mph because that’s how fast we push all day in the traffic grid with the cars, traffic surf all day.  Use Facebook as a skater directory and let people know you are coming to town!  The squeaky wheel gets the grease in NYC.  Everyone in New York is friends on facebook if they skate – whether they are actually friends or not.  It is a lifestyle and we always help one another.  Score yourself a crash pad if you can – though a hostel/hotel shower would be nice.
